Twilight's Story Part 3

His eyes followed her around the corner in slight disappointment; Bane hadn’t intended for her to react the way she did, and was slightly surprised.  Although, Dusk had warned him of the snappy attitude that his little sister had acquired.  Nevertheless, Bane turned the opposite way and started to walk, thinking.  He was ordered to watch after Twilight, one of the five remaining Reapers… the only female of the group, who has yet to experience her Paradox Ceremony; the time in which a reaper would discover what their true potential was… Ages ago it was based on an elemental power that the Reaper had, as Bane had known, although from a major crossbreeding in the shadow realm clans the current Reapers, Twilight and her brothers, were without any true element, but were more of a mash up of the elemental balances and shadow.  Bane had been living as long as some of the older Reapers, who have since passed, which is mostly the reason behind his great understanding.  His other reason is that, in all the generations he has been the guardian of the younger members whom haven’t experienced the paradox.  He knew the importance of knowing of the paradox when it occurred; a Reaper could either obey the rules set before them, or they could rebel against it and become a renegade, like Xerxes was once when he was at his most powerful.  And as much as Twilight didn’t want to admit it, she was more like her father than anyone Bane had seen; she had the greatest power, greater probably than Xerxes, and she knew how to use it to kill and harm mortals in all kinds of ways, not to mention she was intelligent and beautiful, something that would be dangerous in even a mortal woman, which was magnified to no extent by her immortality.  Bane shivered, sighing and turning down a street.  He was going to have a problem on his hands, whether he wanted to or not…
